Advanced Mobile Autocare carried out an on-site air conditioning service for a light truck in Forde, Canberra.
What does an A/C service involve?
Air conditioning servicing assesses how the system cools the cab and moves air through the vents. The work required depends on the vehicle and its condition. In general, an A/C service can include:
- Cooling and airflow checks: assessing vent airflow and cooling performance, including whether a restricted cabin filter or debris around the condenser is affecting airflow.
- System inspection: checking accessible hoses, pipework and connections for damage or signs of refrigerant leakage.
- Operating checks: assessing system pressures, temperatures, controls and component operation to help identify the cause of poor cooling.
- Refrigerant servicing where required: using suitable recovery and evacuation equipment before recharging according to the vehicle manufacturer’s instructions.
Why a regas is not the whole service
A regas restores the refrigerant charge, but it does not repair a leak or correct an electrical or mechanical fault. If refrigerant is low, the cause needs to be investigated rather than repeatedly adding more gas.
The correct refrigerant and charge quantity depend on the vehicle’s specification. After refrigerant work, operating checks help assess the system’s cooling performance. These are general servicing principles; the work needed is determined for each vehicle.
