LDV Deliver 9 Front & Rear Brake Replacement with Rear Axle Seal Replacement
This LDV Deliver 9 commercial van came in for a full front and rear brake replacement.
During the rear brake service, the rear hub assembly had to be removed, and the rear axle seal also needed to be replaced as part of the correct repair process.
Commercial vans such as the LDV Deliver 9 carry heavy loads and spend a lot of time on the road, so the braking system needs to be inspected and maintained properly.
Worn brake pads, uneven rotors, leaking hub seals, or contaminated rear brake components can all affect braking performance and safety.
- Front brake pads replaced
- Front brake rotors replaced
- Rear brake pads replaced
- Rear brake rotors replaced
- Rear hub assembly removed
- Rear axle seal replaced
- Hub and mounting surfaces cleaned

Why the Rear Axle Seal Had to Be Replaced
On this LDV Deliver 9, the rear brake replacement was not just a simple pad and rotor job.
The rear hub and axle area needed extra attention because the rear axle seal must be replaced when the hub assembly is removed and there are signs of seal wear or oil leakage.
A leaking rear axle seal can allow differential oil to reach the rear brake area.
Once oil contaminates the brake rotor, pads or parking brake components, it can reduce braking efficiency, create noise, cause uneven wear, and shorten the life of the new brake parts.
For this reason, the rear axle seal was replaced during the repair instead of simply fitting new brake parts over a possible leaking or contaminated area.
This helps protect the new brake components and ensures the rear braking system is repaired correctly.
Brake Replacement Process
The vehicle was safely lifted and supported before removing the wheels and inspecting the front and rear brake assemblies.
The front brake pads and rotors were replaced first, with the caliper brackets, slide pins and hub mounting surfaces checked and cleaned before reassembly.
At the rear, the brake assembly required removal of the hub area to access the seal properly.
The old axle seal was removed, the sealing surface was cleaned and inspected, and a new rear axle seal was fitted before the brake components were reassembled.
After the new rear brake components were fitted, the complete brake system was checked and the vehicle was road tested to confirm correct brake operation.
Oil contamination can damage the new brake parts and reduce braking performance.
