Professional Fiat AC Thermal Expansion Valve (TXV) Replacement
If you need help with your Fiat AC Thermal Expansion Valve (TXV) Replacement or if you suspect your car air conditioning is not working in your car or not creating enough cold air through vents, then don’t worry. Advanced Mobile Mechanics can come to you anywhere in Canberra to get that car air conditioning service done for you.
How Does AC Work in a Car
The car air conditioning system works by manipulating refrigerant between a liquid and a gaseous state. As the refrigerant changes states, it absorbs heat and humidity from the vehicle and allows the system to give off cool, dry air. To change the refrigerant between a liquid and a gaseous state, the air conditioning system works to control pressure and temperature. Therefore, it’s very important to get professional car air con service done periodically.
How does Fiat AC Thermal Expansion Valve (TXV) Work
- Temperature Sensing Bulb: The TXV has a temperature sensing bulb connected to the suction line leaving the evaporator coil. This bulb is filled with a refrigerant similar to the one used in the system. Its purpose is to sense the temperature of the refrigerant as it exits the evaporator coil.
- Pressure Regulating Mechanism: The temperature sensing bulb is connected to the valve body, which contains a diaphragm and a valve pin. The pressure of the refrigerant in the bulb acts on the diaphragm. When the temperature of the refrigerant exiting the evaporator coil changes, it causes the pressure in the bulb to change as well.
- Adjustment of Refrigerant Flow: As the pressure in the sensing bulb changes, it causes the diaphragm to move. This movement adjusts the position of the valve pin, which in turn regulates the flow of refrigerant entering the evaporator coil. When the temperature increases, indicating a higher heat load, the TXV opens to allow more refrigerant into the coil. Conversely, when the temperature decreases, indicating a lower heat load, the TXV closes to reduce the flow of refrigerant.
